Surveying Services in Keswick

Storrs Park

For a residential project at Storrs Park, Bowness-On-Windermere, we were tasked with providing detailed survey services for a newly purchased property where the client intended to make a number of alterations. Our comprehensive approach involved conducting an accurate Topographical Survey of the property grounds and a Measured Building Survey of both the external and internal features of the house.

To ensure the highest level of precision, we utilised a combination of advanced surveying technologies. The Leica Total Station (TS) was employed to gather precise measurements of the property’s boundaries, elevations, and other critical features of the grounds. This data was essential for understanding the site context and planning the proposed amendments.

For the detailed internal and external surveys of the building itself, we used the Leica RTC 360 Laser Scanner. This technology allowed us to capture extensive 3D laser scans of the property, creating a highly accurate and comprehensive digital representation of the existing structure. The scanner’s ability to produce high-resolution, full-colour point clouds facilitated the creation of detailed floorplans and elevation drawings, providing the client with a clear visualisation of the building’s current state.

To control the accuracy of the scans, we placed checkerboard targets throughout the property. These targets were used to calibrate and align the scanner data, ensuring that the 3D models and floorplans were precise and aligned with the real-world dimensions of the property.

The combination of the Leica TS, Leica RTC 360 scanner, and checkerboard targets enabled us to produce detailed and accurate floorplans and 3D models of the existing building. This extensive and precise survey data was crucial for the client’s planning and design process, allowing them to make informed decisions about the proposed amendments and ensuring that all modifications would be implemented with a clear understanding of the property’s current layout and features.
