Meet the New Additions to the Team

Lucy McKinley • Business Development Executive

I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Business Development Executive at Site Surveying Services Ltd and Tri-Tech Surveys. Stepping into this role has been an exciting journey, especially as someone who is new to the industry. I recently graduated with first-class honors in Business Management from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston. While the construction industry is almost completely new to me, my educational background in business management has equipped me with the strategic mindset and skills necessary to excel in business development. Having completed 2 months in the job, I have attended numerous networking events, built my network exponentially, arranged meetings and built foundational relationships with prospective clients.

Coming straight from university, I knew I’d be facing a steep learning curve, but that’s exactly what drew me to this opportunity. I’ve always had a strong interest in business, and this role allows me to channel that passion into building relationships, understanding our clients’ needs, and driving growth for both companies.

The construction industry has always been of interest to me, partly due to my mum’s career in a similar field. Watching her navigate and succeed in what is traditionally a male-dominated field has made me appreciate the strength and dedication it takes to thrive in this environment. I’m committed to working closely with our teams to deliver the high quality service and innovative solutions that Site Surveying Services Ltd and Tri-Tech Surveys are known for.

Outside of work I love travelling, I don’t think I can function properly without my next trip booked! This year I have already been to Venice, Greece, and Ibiza twice, with hopes to make it to Dubai before the end of the year. Holidays and the gym are what seem to keep me sane throughout the year, as you can probably tell I’m a big advocate of a good work-life balance!

Louise Appleton • Administrative Assistant

Hey there! I’m Louise, but most people call me Lou. I joined the Site Surveying team three months ago as an Administrative Assistant.

This role is a bit of a change for me. My background is mostly in personal assistant work, project coordination, and more recently as a Community Engagement Manager. I’ve worn a lot of hats, but it keeps life interesting!

Though I’ve lived in a few different places, Lancashire has always been home sweet home for me. I did spend some years living and working in London and Oxfordshire, but in 2022, I decided to take an adult gap year—why should the students have all the fun? I kicked it off by spending several months on the peaceful Isle of Bute, then switched gears completely with a trip to Los Angeles for some family time and adventures. I had an amazing time, but eventually, the Ribble Valley was calling me home again.

These days, you’ll find me soaking up the beautiful Lancashire countryside with our family pooch, Maximus (he’s tiny but mighty), and sneaking in a visit to a garden centre whenever I can (although it’s mostly for the tea and cake!) I’m also a total TV addict and when I’m not binge-watching, you can find me indulging in my love for food and wine. I’m lucky to live in the Ribble Valley, where the restaurant and pub scene is amazing, so I’m happily eating my way through the local spots.

At Site Surveying, my days are always a mix of something new – no two are the same! While my main focus is prepping survey quotes, I’m also regularly chatting with clients about their quotes and getting updates on their projects. It’s a real “all hands on deck” vibe around here, and I honestly love the variety. Things are going great, and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for us!

We’re thrilled to welcome Lucy and Louise to the Site Surveying team. Their ability to adapt and integrate seamlessly with the existing team has been impressive, and they’re already making significant contributions in their new roles. It’s clear that they bring not only strong skills and expertise but also a positive energy that has enhanced our work environment. We’re excited to see how they will continue to grow and contribute to our ongoing success.
