We are excited to announce our partnership with Clitheroe Football Club for the upcoming season.
This season is particularly special as the club is celebrating its 100th season at Shawbridge. As part of our sponsorship, you’ll be able to spot our branding on their brand-new digital media board and advertising posters. We look forward to seeing you at Shawbridge this season!
This partnership aligns with Clitheroe FC’s ongoing efforts to invest in and upgrade its facilities, creating a more welcoming environment for all fans. This isn’t our first collaboration with the club, we’ve already undergone some work to assist with the advancement of their facilities.
Topographical Survey and UAV Mapping
One of our senior Land Surveyors, Michael Read, is a die-hard supporter of Clitheroe Football Club. About a year ago Michael completed an intriguing Topographical Survey and UAV Mapping of the club’s pitch. For years, Michael had suspected that the pitch wasn’t level, but he wanted to determine just how uneven it really was.
By employing photogrammetry with a drone, Michael utilised the drone’s inbuilt GPS to accurately map the pitch onto an ordnance survey grid. The resulting mesh was then used to create a detailed topographical survey of the football ground. Although this method isn’t as precise as a traditional survey conducted on dry land, it offers a fantastic way to cover larger areas quickly and efficiently, and is often used for quarry surveys and volume calculations.
The graphic provided illustrates the variation in height above sea level along the edges of the pitch.
I’ve been attending Clitheroe FC since I was six years old, and it’s always been a fantastic community club that’s growing with real ambitions for promotion. It’s wonderful to see Site Surveying Services supporting the club, which will provide great local exposure and help fuel its continued success.
