As construction ramps up at a major new converter station site in North Yorkshire (part of a nationally significant renewable energy infrastructure project), we were recently engaged to deliver a digital levelling monitoring survey to support the early-stage works.

Using @leicageosystemsag... digital levelling technology, we established a high-precision control network across the site, ensuring sub-millimetre accuracy and setting a reliable framework for all future works.

In a project of this scale and complexity, accuracy and consistency are everything. With multiple disciplines working side by side, it’s critical that everyone is aligned to the same baseline - avoiding errors, rework, and costly delays.

Our control network is now underpinning the ongoing platform development for the converter station, which will eventually help transmit low-carbon electricity across long distances.

This project forms part of a broader initiative to increase renewable energy capacity and resilience in the UK grid and we’re proud to support it by providing the precision surveying services that help make progress possible.

Over the bank holiday weekend, our Mikey got involved with the Hyndburn Scarecrow Festival, creating a Surveying Scarecrow, complete with a handmade Total Station and a filming camera, pointing to the question he gets asked so often on site… “are you filming?” 🎥

It took 2 weeks ...for Mikey to create the scarecrow, the film camera and the Total station to demonstrate the difference between what we use on site and what’s used for filming!
